Benzoin Sumatra Resin
Odor: characteristic Use: Adam Michael has this to say “I am pleased to now have a stock of Sumatra benzoin, my thinking is this can enable customers to try both the Siam and Sumatra offerings and compare and learn the respective aromas better. The major constituents of the Sumatra benzoin are cinnamic acid and cinnamyl cinnamate (Siam – benzaldehyde and vanillin) and these constituents are chiefly responsible for the balsamic and slight spicy qualities of this resin albeit in a very mellowed form. Used on the oil burner this resin also creates an attractive bubbling mass of brown, black and golden syrup colours. Should you use this material on an oil burner** I would encourage you to use a mortar and grind the rather large resin pieces down into powder form.” |
